October 31, 2023

TEAMS/CLUBS:
*Our Varsity Cheer team took 1st place in both the Game Day and Routine categories this past weekend at the Minnetonka Cheer Competition. They received their bid to go to Nationals and will be heading to Florida to defend their title. Congratulations, Cheer Team!

*Attention all boys interested in playing volleyball this year! Come to an informational meeting after school this Friday, November 3 in B104. They will talk about plans for the spring season as well as open gym times in November and December. Snacks will be provided! See Mr. Sieling in B104 for more information if you can't make it to the meeting.

MISC:

*Do you enjoy writing poetry, short stories, memoirs, or plays? Are you an artist who loves photography, painting, drawing, or other forms of visual art? If so, then you should consider submitting work to the Jefferson Literary Magazine, The Crooked Quill. This is your chance to show off your creative work and be published! If you are interested in submitting work to the magazine, you can find one of the many flyers around the school and view the QR code for more information, or you can submit directly to jeffersonlitmagazine.com. See Mr. Hupton in room C5 for more information. The deadline for submissions is February 2.

*The Jefferson Marching Band invites you to their 23rd annual indoor concert on Friday, October 27th, Saturday, October 28, or Sunday, October 29th. Adult tickets are $10 and student or senior tickets are $8. You can purchase tickets online or at the show.

*Congratulations to the Boys Cross Country team on winning their third consecutive Metro West Conference Championship. Both the boys and the girls teams will compete at the section meet this Thursday.

October 17, 2023

*Any boys soccer players who have not turned in their uniform and lock, please do so after school today. Any unreturned items will be added as a fine on your student account.

*For the remainder of this week teachers have workshop/Minnesota Education Conference days. Students, you will not have school again until next Monday, October 23rd. Enjoy your long weekend!

*Picture retake day is tomorrow, October 17th for any student who has not had their picture taken this year or who would like a retake of their original picture. The grade-level schedule is posted outside the main office. This is your last chance to have your picture taken and get a student ID for this school year, so don’t miss it!

*We are celebrating Unity Day tomorrow and encourage students and staff to wear ORANGE to show support for the acceptance, inclusion and kindness of all students, and to stand up against bullying. If you don’t have anything orange, feel free to wear your Jefferson gear. Thank you, in advance, for your participation.

*After School Drop-In begins today! Drop in is an after-school program designed to help ALL students with homework, studying, organization and planning, and more! No sign up is required, just be sure to show up to Blue Flex or participating teacher classrooms by 2:45 on regular school days or by 2:25 on Block Days. Room locations and teachers will be streamed on TV’s throughout the building and will be updated weekly.

Stop by Coach Cater's room, C107, if you are interested in learning more about joining Boys Lacrosse. This meeting is for new players only. Returning players will meet next week.

*There will be a brief but very important Boys Basketball meeting on Wednesday, October 11th at 7:15 AM in the Phy Ed classroom.

*Boys that are playing in the Powderbuff volleyball tournament tonight should come for a 30 minute practice after school today from 2:30 to 3 pm. 11th and 12th graders should report to the main gym and 9th and 10th graders should report to the Activity Center. The tournament will start at 7 PM tonight in the main gym.

*Juniors and Seniors, if you filled out the Google Form to attend the National College Fair this Wednesday but have not yet returned your permission slip to the career center, be sure to bring it today or tomorrow so you get a spot on the bus.
