February 29, 2024

*COLLEGE VISIT: A representative from Iowa State University will be in the College/Career Center on Wednesday, March 6th at 1:30 PM. Register to attend on Naviance or by using the posted QR code.

*TRIMESTER 3 PARKING: If you have registered for your Tri 3 parking permit, be sure to pick it up in the main office as soon as possible. Permits need to be displayed in your car starting the first day of the trimester.

*THRIFT EXCHANGE: Earth Corps is collecting books and clothes (except for undergarments) for their Thrift Exchange on Saturday, March 16th from 12-4 pm. Drop off donations in the main office for a chance to win a TJ Coffeehouse coupon!

*INTERNSHIP OPPORTUNITIES: Don’t forget about summer internship opportunities! You can apply using the posted QR codes on the monitors. Applications are due by this Friday, March 1. Don’t pass up this wonderful opportunity!

*END OF THE DAY INFORMATION: Students, final exams for today will be finished at 12:15 and you are free to leave the building at that time. An optional lunch will be served for students beginning at 12:15. If you are riding your bus home, please note that buses will depart Jefferson at 12:45. Watch the clocks carefully so that you don’t miss your bus. Also, be aware that the building will be closing at 1:00 today unless you are involved in an adult-supervised activity. Students waiting for a ride will need to wait in Flag Hall by the main entrance.

*CONGRATULATIONS to the JETS Adapted Soccer Team who qualified for the state tournament yesterday with an 8-4 win over Tartan. Thank you for representing Jefferson so well!

*CONGRATULATIONS to the Jefferson Speech Team finalists from the Eastview Tournament: Kailey Tan, Amelia Busse, Kehan Chen, and Sorin Czoschke. Great job, speech team!

*CONGRATULATIONS to the Jefferson Show Choirs and Show Band for their triumphant end to a great season. On Saturday, Jive took home its third 2nd place trophy, and for only the 2nd time in 10 years, Connection made finals in every competition in a given season. Way to represent Jefferson!

This year’s theme is Journey Through Space and will feature the 4 school bands, 2 jazz bands, student group performances, and student MC’s. The concert begins at 6:30 in the school auditorium. *CONGRATULATIONS SHOW CHOIRS: Congratulations to the Jefferson Show Choirs for a great weekend in St. Paul at the ROCK THE NORTH competition. JIVE won first runner up in Division A and Connection made finals and took home the 2nd runner up trophy. In addition, Zoey Edeburn was recognized as Best Soloist and Olivia Hindt was awarded the Showstopper Award.

*JHS CHEER TEAM NATIONAL CHAMPIONS: Our Jefferson Cheer team traveled to Florida and won yet another National Championship in the Small Division Game Day Competition, an event they have dominated over the past years. Congratulations to our Cheer Team!

*SPEECH TEAM WINS FIRST: Congratulations to our Speech team for placing 1st as a team at the STMA Tournament on Saturday. Many of our students placed well in the finals, with 1st place designations going to Carolyn Heisel in Impromptu and Amelia Busse in Prose. A special congratulations to Charles Lindstrom who has earned his first bid for the National Tournament in Nebraska this May for Extemporaneous Speaking. Well done, Speech team!

*PICKLEBALL FOR CHARITY: On Saturday, February 10, Bloomington DECA will be hosting a Pickleball tournament to raise money for the Muscular Dystrophy Association. There will be a morning tournament for beginners, and an afternoon tournament for experienced players.
