February 29, 2024

*COLLEGE VISIT: A representative from Iowa State University will be in the College/Career Center on Wednesday, March 6th at 1:30 PM. Register to attend on Naviance or by using the posted QR code.

*TRIMESTER 3 PARKING: If you have registered for your Tri 3 parking permit, be sure to pick it up in the main office as soon as possible. Permits need to be displayed in your car starting the first day of the trimester.

*THRIFT EXCHANGE: Earth Corps is collecting books and clothes (except for undergarments) for their Thrift Exchange on Saturday, March 16th from 12-4 pm. Drop off donations in the main office for a chance to win a TJ Coffeehouse coupon!

*INTERNSHIP OPPORTUNITIES: Don’t forget about summer internship opportunities! You can apply using the posted QR codes on the monitors. Applications are due by this Friday, March 1. Don’t pass up this wonderful opportunity!

*END OF THE DAY INFORMATION: Students, final exams for today will be finished at 12:15 and you are free to leave the building at that time. An optional lunch will be served for students beginning at 12:15. If you are riding your bus home, please note that buses will depart Jefferson at 12:45. Watch the clocks carefully so that you don’t miss your bus. Also, be aware that the building will be closing at 1:00 today unless you are involved in an adult-supervised activity. Students waiting for a ride will need to wait in Flag Hall by the main entrance.

*TRIMESTER 3 PARKING: If you have registered for your Trimester 3 parking permit, you may now pick it up in the main office. Permits need to be displayed in your car starting the first day of the trimester. If you haven’t registered for your permit yet, we encourage you to get it done as quickly as possible!

You can also find this form on the JHS yearbook Instagram @jhs.yearbook271.This form closes tonight at 11:59 pm, so get your nominations in right away.

*GOLF MEETING: There will be a Boys Golf meeting today for any boys interested in playing golf this spring. The meeting will be held in room C28 right after school. Please see Mr. Schram if you have any questions or if you are unable to attend the meeting.

*CONGRATULATIONS to the JETS Adapted Soccer Team who qualified for the state tournament yesterday with an 8-4 win over Tartan. Thank you for representing Jefferson so well!

*CONGRATUATIONS! Senior Logan Ross won his bracket at section wrestling on Saturday and will be competing at the state meet this coming Friday. Congratulations and good luck, Logan!

*CONGRATULATIONS to the Jefferson Speech Team finalists from the Eastview Tournament: Kailey Tan, Amelia Busse, Kehan Chen, and Sorin Czoschke. Great job, speech team!

*CONGRATULATIONS to the Jefferson Show Choirs and Show Band for their triumphant end to a great season. On Saturday, Jive took home its third 2nd place trophy, and for only the 2nd time in 10 years, Connection made finals in every competition in a given season. Way to represent Jefferson!

*SUMMER INTERNSHIP OPPORTUNITIES: Bloom in Bloomington is a youth workforce development program that matches young people with summer internship experiences within the city of Bloomington. If you’re interested in a paid summer internship opportunity that will look great on your college applications, you can apply by using the posted QR code. Applications are due by March 3. Check with Ms. Wallerick in the College/Career Center if you have any questions.

*JHS BAND POPS CONCERT: Join the Jefferson Bands tonight, Feb. 22, as they present their annual POPS concert. This year’s theme is Journey Through Space and will feature the 4 school bands, 2 jazz bands, student group performances, and student MC’s. The concert begins at 6:30 in the school auditorium. Purchase tickets online or at the door.

*HOMEWORK HELP: There are 5 school days until finals! Take advantage of JHS Drop-In after school to receive help with your assignments, studying, planning, and more. As a reminder, Drop-In is not open on the days we have finals, so plan accordingly.

*COLLEGE VISIT: A representative from the University of Wisconsin, Stout will be in the College/Career Center this Friday, February 23 at 11:00 AM. If you’re interested in learning more about Stout, sign up on Naviance to attend the meeting.
